Nicholas Krushenick (1929-1999), Fire/Flash/Five/Fade (3), 1971
Edition 99/150

Krushenick's graphic, hard-edged screenprint in orange, yellow, black, silver and white is signed, dated, and numbered on verso from an edition of 150. Some imperfections on print.

Krushenick first developed his signature “pop abstract” style in the early 1960s. The high-keyed colour, formal rigor, and sheer graphic intensity of his paintings set him apart from his contemporaries. As a result, decades after its creation, Krushenick’s work still appears remarkably fresh.

Krushenick along with his brother John started the now legendary Brata—its name a spin on brati, the Ukrainian word for “brothers” in Manhattan’s East Village. Among the members were Al Held, Ed Clark, Yayoi Kusama, George Sugarman and Ron Bladen.
